A letter from Edward Doolittle in New Haven, Connecticut, to his mother in Union City, Connecticut. The letter was written on the letterhead of the Diamond Starch Company. The accompanying envelope is printed with the trademark of Diamond Starch posted on a brick wall like a broadside or poster. A Chinese man reads the poster while above him is a four line poem in pidgin English.
